NYC Wrap Up
Thursday morning I got out and ran counter-clockwise around Central Park. I was a bit groggy this morning as I don’t sleep well when I’m away from home. Of the three days in NYC, I felt the best running wise today as I think the virus that I had is nearly done with me.
Coming back along the west side of the park, I darted off the road to run around the Jackie O Resivoir. The path itself appeared to be cinders & stones which was a welcome relief from the cambered concrete around the park. Most folks on the resisvoir appeared to be joggers or walkers with a few runners here and there. After finishing the 1.6 mile loop I got back on the road and passed (backwards) through the NYC Marathon finish and headed back to the hotel to shower and head to the airport.
(68 minutes – 8 miles)
Friday morning I got in 5 miles at 8:10 pace. Temps were in the mid 30’s which was a bit of an adjustment from NYC where it had been in the upper 50’s to low 60’s. For the week I’m up to 39 miles which puts the odometer very close to the 24,000 level. I should pass that milestone in the coming days/weeks.
Looking at the "Guaranteed" Entry Times for the NYC Marathon, at my age it would require either a 2:55 marathon or a 1:23 half marathon. My current half marathon PR is less than 4 minutes short of that standard. Perhaps that’s another goal to shoot for.
