Hello New York
i didn’t get up and run on Monday morning. dana didn’t go to sleep until 10PM and alia came into our room at midnight because of a bad dream. however, i did go to the airport and flew to NYC. after getting settled in at the hotel, vpn-ing in to do some work, we headed down to Madison Square Garden to see the Rangers play the Devils. (big rivalry) we got to witness a brawl at the end of the game between a Rangers fan and a Devils fan. i’ve got to say, the Devils fan had it coming to him…and he got the worst of it!
Tuesday morning i got up and ran the couple blocks north to the very south portion of Central Park and ran counter-clockwise around the park. it was before the sun came up but there were lots of runners and cyclists out. it was cool to be running along and hearing different runners speaking different languages to each other. i was also surprised that Central Park was as hilly as it was. for some reason, i expected it to be flat. coming around to finish the loop, i ran through the area where the NYC marathon finishes. some day i’ll have to do that marathon.
needless to say, it was very cool to finally be able to run Central Park. it’s one of those places that, as a runner, you should run at least once.
