catching up

sunday i took the day off from running. i was still hobbling around and was more interested in having a few green "sodas" while hosting a BBQ.

monday morning i headed out for 7 miles in slightly under 58 minutes.

today i headed out the door and was groggily sleep running a block or two when i heard footsteps behind me. my head wheeled around and i was greeted by another runner who was a bit more chipper at that wee hour than i. thankfully i had hit the bathroom before leaving otherwise i would have soiled my shorts! in the end, i mustered 7 miles in slightly over 58 minutes.

out-n-back

i got a late start this morning and didn’t get out the door until 9AM. thankfully, the temps and humidity were relatively good but the sun was out in full force. i headed out west on the glacial drumlin trail towards wales. it’s a long slow climb from waukesha to wales which is nice for the return trip. i went out past wales, nearly to the point where the trailbreaker turns from paved trail to dirt trail; and turned around with 8 miles and 1:08 and change on the watch. coming back, i stopped to refill my water bottle at 9.5 miles and downed an energy gel. i felt pretty good on the way in as it was rolling downhill. with 3 miles to go i did start to slow as the sun was really taking a toll on me, even with drinking from a water bottle. i hobbled in at 2:15:14 for a slight negative split and 8:24 pace overall.

for the week, i ended up with 53 miles. the previous two weeks i ran 50 and 49 respectively.

finally friday

what a difference a day makes. today it was cool…maybe mid-50’s for the temps with no humidity. i ran a 5 mile loop in slightly more than 41 minutes and called it a day. WTD i’m up to 37 miles with one day to go.

up and down on university

this morning started with temps in the low 70’s and high humidity. it was overcast and so muggy that you could feel the fog. i headed down commanche to university and headed north. somewhere, after turning around, my shoes began to make the "squish" sound with every footstep. i must have been sweating up a storm because it wasn’t raining. regardless, i squished it home for 9 miles at an average pace of 8:04 per mile.

wednesday wandering

this morning broke with temps at seventy degrees and moderate humidity. i gingerly headed to the glacial drumlin and ran toward town. my right shin was tight from running yesterday so i started out rather slowly just to see how it felt. it felt ok so i kept going and noticed that the city put asphalt over an abandoned railroad track that intersects the trail…a good move in my opinion. i ended up running 7 miles in slightly under 59 minutes for a cumulative pace of 8:24 per mile.
