long time no long run
i finally got my rear out the door by about 7:30AM and headed out on the glacial drumlin trail. i headed to Wales, which is the next town west of Waukesha. after a slow 6.5 miles (8:30 pace) i rolled into the outskirts of Wales, stopped at the bathroom, took a drink from the water fountain and turned for home.
it’s uphill on the way out and downhill on the way back. i began rolling for home and saw a guy running out ahead of me with a camelback. i slowly reeled him in and exchanged pleasantries as i pulled up. we got to talking and he was prepping for the Half Ironman in Michigan which is held about 5 weeks from now. after talking for awhile, i wished him luck and made the turn for home.
i ended up with 13 miles at 8:16 pace and felt reasonably well. for most of the run i listened to my ipod, which i haven’t used in awhile. for the week, i ran 30 miles on 4 days of running.

a bit cool this morning in waukesha. temps were in the low 50’s. many of the walkers had jackets and long pants on. i mustered 7 miles in just under 58 minutes and hit the shower. this weekend i’m aiming for a longer run to see where the legs are at.
i made a big score this afternoon on http://www.sierratradingpost.com where i scored 2 pair of asics 2110’s for $36 each! normally that’s what i’d pay for two pairs of running shoes! props go to my friend dana who asked where to get running shoes cheap. i dialed up the site and saw the deal. BOO-YAH!
here’s a link to pictures of the cabin we stayed in at door county. the shower didn’t work real well but other than that it was a nice place to hang out for a few days.
long time no blog
our vacation in door county was great. running-wise…not so good. i ran the first morning at the cottage (saturday) for 5 miles at 8:30 pace. i didn’t run again until tuesday of this week, which was another 5 miler at 8:05 pace which put me over 1000 miles YTD. this morning i did another 5 miler at 8:10 pace.
what gives? there’s no question my body isn’t recovered from my spring racing. i begrudgingly accept that. if i am to have any hope of salvaging a fall racing season, i have to allow myself some time to recover. i’m aiming to get back into the swing of things this weekend. the nice thing is that the mild tendinitis in my left and right Achilles tendons is easing off.
finally friday
first day of vacation and i woke up at 4:45AM. ugh! i finally got myself out the door at 6AM and headed north. temps were in the mid-50’s and it nice to not be in a hurry. i headed down madison, up moreland and turned around at moor downs golf course. i headed home at a slightly faster pace than on the way out and ended up with 7 miles in just under an hour.

3650 days
3650 days…or 10 years. today is our 10th wedding anniversary. time flies when you’re raising children! we’re headed to a lakefront cottage in door county for a few nights while our kids hang out with their grandparents in the greater green bay area.
this morning i headed out for 9 miles at 8:22 pace. temps were in the low 70’s and the humidity was up over yesterday. for the week i’m up to 30 miles with two days left.
