spring forward
saturday morning was cold & rainy so i opted to wait until the afternoon for my constitutional. i ended up with seven miles in a few ticks less than 59 minutes.
sunday’s effort took me east as the wind was moving at a good clip from that direction. i rolled through our old neighborhood and was about a nine iron from minooka park when my GPS rolled seven miles. i did a 180 and retraced my steps for home with a nice tailwind pushing me along. a mile from home i spotted my friend craig heading towards me. we stopped to chat for a bit then i ran home for a very much welcomed hot shower. in all, i covered 14 miles in a few ticks less than 2 hours.

o’dark early
it seems as though i’m back on track with my 5am constitutionals. including today, i’ve been able to roll out of bed and muster six miles each of the past three days. while it’s been foggy, the temps have been in the mid-to-upper thirties which is much more comfortable than it had been in january & february.

spring fever
this weekend brought sunshine and warmer temperatures, both of which made running much more enjoyable. saturday afternoon i got out for a six mile effort and sunday afternoon i mustered twelve miles. i’m now less than 200 miles from 30,000 miles on the odometer which likely puts me into mid-April for passing the milestone.
MTD – 30 miles
YTD – 295 miles

night moves
a pesky cough has made its way through the cameron household which mysteriously takes hold shortly after the kids head to bed. cough syrup (and even honey) haven’t put a dent in the effects and have made getting enough sleep to awake at 4:30AM for a run next to impossible. therefore, the past two evenings i’ve been gearing up for an evening constitutional after the kids head to bed. it’s a bit different than my morning constitutionals as i’ve still got dinner digesting when i’m shuffling down the road. regardless, i’ve mustered six mile efforts on both tuesday and wednesday evenings which is better than nothing. the good thing is that by the time i’m back and headed to bed, the coughing is (usually) subsided and the house is quiet. so i’ve got that going for me. 🙂
february rewind
it’s pretty safe to say that the more often i post to my blog, the better my running has been going. looking back over february, i didn’t post often and correspondingly didn’t roll many miles. in all, i mustered 105 miles on 18 days of training. looking at the glass half-full, i did get out twice on my snowshoes – including my first snowshoe race. the half-empty glass shows i didn’t log a single run that was double digits in miles.
