more miles on the drumlin
7/26 – 7 miles
7/27 – off
7/28 – 8 miles
MTD miles is up to 159 and my July 2009 goal is 180. gotta average 7 miles per day through friday to get there.
afternoon nine
i intended to get out for a morning constitutional but was instead drawn to watch the epic climb up Mont Ventoux on Versus. it is astonishing to watch the sheer determination of the riders and the unbridled enthusiasm of hundreds of thousands of spectators that line the road up the mountain. in the end, i was pleased to see that Armstrong solidified his spot on the TDF podium with a strong effort.
after a relaxing morning and afternoon around the house, i geared up to head out west along the drumlin. temps were in the upper seventies but relatively low humidity and a steady wind made it feel comfortable. in all, i mustered nine miles in a few ticks past 73 minutes and called it a day. looking back over the past four weeks, i’ve averaged a little more than forty miles per week which is positive news.
MTD – 144 miles
YTD -727.8 miles
Odometer – 28,835.5
easing back
five miles (without the ipod) in 42:20. put the trash/recycles to the curb then shower. TGIF
up and at ’em
i had a bit of pep in my step this morning and tallied seven miles in 55:20. my route was westbound on the glacial drumlin, which has been a regular location for my morning constitutionals as of late. being that i’m a “regular” of sorts on the trail, i have noticed other folks that are out and about on the trail in the early morning. this morning, a guy i’ve seen many times out walking on the trail in the past weeks was out running. it looks like he started a walking regiment for a few weeks and is transitioning into running – – which (in my opinion) is the “right” way to do it.
also, my friend jeff recently launched his “triple-threat” blog at http://runhuntgarden.blogspot.com. he’s bouncing back from an injury but should be back to 100% for the fall racing season.
caught in the rain
on the way back home this morning, the sky began to look rather ominous. with about 20 minutes left in my morning constitutional, it began to rain and quickly soaked me. i’m not a fan of running in the rain, but at least i was on my way home when it began. regardless, i mustered seven miles and hit the shower.
