monday morning constitutional
my morning constitutional consisted of 9 miles around the city at a leisurely pace just under 9 minutes a mile. the temps were in the upper 50’s, which felt cool at first but was pretty comfortable after the first mile was done. overall, it was a fairly uneventful effort but i did see two cats duking it out and i nearly stepped on a field mouse while running through an overgrown section of town.

i usually look at the 12 weeks of training leading to the marathon as an indicator of success. here’s an update of my weekly mileage breakdown…
wk 1 – 52 miles
wk 2 – 50 miles
wk 3 – 46.5 miles
wk 4 – 54 miles
i’ll need to get more volume in over the next 4 weeks then sharpen up with faster paced workouts in september to be ready for lakefront.
sunday slow run
i got myself geared up and headed out at about 4 o’clock in the afternoon for a slow run. my route was out west on the glacial drumlin trail and back. temps were in the low 70’s with a nice breeze and sunny skies. i mustered 7 miles in 64 minutes and called it a day.
saturday night is alright
i slept in this morning and even took an afternoon nap. i think it was my body’s way of saying REST as i’ve been burning the candle at both ends as of late. i helped get my daughters off to bed and i headed out the door at about 8:40pm. initally i ran south for 6.5 miles then doubled back to our house. i then improvised another 3 miles through the neighborhood and called it a day with 16 miles covered in 2:19. (8:40 pace)

8 miles in 1:07:30 – how could i run anything but 8 miles today?
figured out that i could charge my GPS watch using the cigarette lighter cable that i had for my cell phone. ironic, eh? i’ll still have to find a new USB cable to download the data from the watch to my computer.
drumlin westbound
8 miles in 1:07:30 – on my way out, i saw two deer out on the drumlin trail.
