4 digits YTD
i got myself rolling shortly after 5AM today and headed north then east into town. i wound around the western side of town past the county courthouse then headed south toward bethesda park. after running through the park i opted to take the glacial drumlin back toward home. overall, i mustered 9 miles at 8:26 pace and hit the shower.
i finally pushed my YTD total over 1000. i’m a bit behind due to the hammy injury and will need to take it up a notch if i’m going to get my 2000 in for the year.
MTD – 79.5 miles
YTD – 1,005 miles
Odometer – 27, 343
miles are miles
i was a bit slow rolling out of bed this morning but i did gear up and roll down comanche hill to the glacial drumlin trail. i headed west and made my 180 after 3.5 miles with a few more than 30 minutes elapsed. the run back was a bit faster than on the way out and i ended up back at home in a few ticks less than 60 minutes for 7 miles.
some other fun ultra running news…
Carilyn (who i was going to pace at the Kettle 100M) was named to the US Team for the World Championship 24-Hour Run of the International Association of Ultrarunners which will be held in Seoul, Korea on Oct. 18-19. her blog is located at http://runreadwrite.blogspot.com/
a local ultrarunner (Mary Gorski) is currently competing in the Badwater 135. the race has updates of the runners progress.
sunday stroll
i only made a few minutes to run this morning before church so i opted to run a 5 miler on an out-n-back course along the glacial drumlin. i ended up back at home in a few ticks short of 41 minutes and hit the shower.
12 weeks from today i have to run 26.2 miles at 7:25 pace to get myself back to hopkinton, ma.
gettin’ paid for it
friday morning i didn’t run. we had thunder/lightning in the area so i opted to go back to sleep.
today i slept in a bit then geared up and headed out the door. i ran my 5 mile route then improvised a bit once i made it back to my subdivision. my improv lasted a bit longer than expected and i ended up covering 7.5 miles in 65 minutes. for the week, that puts me at 40.5 miles…which is positive.
all that being said, the really cool thing about today’s run is that after about 2.5 miles i spotted a folded up bill on the sidewalk. i stopped, backtracked and picked it up to see that i was $5 richer!

seven again
i was a bit slow rolling out of bed this morning but i managed to gear up and head out the door with temps in the mid-sixties. initially, i headed south on comanche then turned north up university. i made my way past uw-waukesha and made a 180 after 3.5 miles. the route on the way out is definately an elevation gain so the run back is generally a bit faster. i ended up rolling back home with 7 miles at an average pace of 8:45 and hit the shower.
