saturday sunshine
i didn’t get the chance to run on friday but did get out this afternoon for a constitutional. the sun was out and temps were in the mid-20’s. i donned my shades and headed down comanche then up university. i was a bit too hydrated so i made a stop at uw-w then continued on my way. i ran to the end of university then doubled back on a "spur" out woodmere. honestly, it didn’t look like it was plowed much during the winter and there were shelves of ice pocketed with puddles of water. fortunately, there were only a few cars that passed me in this stretch otherwise i would have been sprayed with snow melt.
i ran to the end of woodmere then doubled back to university. heading home, i detoured down michigan to washington then headed back in the direction of my subdivision. i improvised a few extra minutes and ended up with 15 miles in 2:04:17, which translates to 8:17 per mile pace.

hamster miles…again
yep…you guessed it. frigid temps. treadmill running. 5 miles a few clicks past 39 minutes. tomorrow looks about the same but it looks like temps should moderate a bit starting this weekend. as appreciative as i am about having indoor options…i’m really looking forward to running outside again.
more hamster miles
morning temps are still frigid so i brought gear and hit the treadmill at lunch. honestly, it was a well timed effort in terms of working up a sweat and feeling that pleasant post-run buzz. after rolling 5 miles – in a few ticks past 39 minutes – i hit the shower and headed back to work.
rolling along
morning temps were around 1 degree with a biting wind chill. i brought along gear and ran during lunch. i got to run on a parallel treadmill to a friend who had just returned from running the Austin Marathon over the weekend. admittedly, it was great to hear about someone else’s race efforts as racing is few and far between in Wisconsin during the winter. regardless, i mustered 5 miles in around 39:20 and hit the shower.
ready for spring
i didn’t run on sunday. temps were in the mid-30’s and it was raining…which aren’t conditions that make for a reasonable run.
i had to take today off as well. my 5 year old got sick so i stayed home with her. my wife had some fund raising duties to attend to this evening so i’m focused on hanging out with my kids. regardless, i did make a little time to post some new (old) content in my running section. check out retro running for some old running photos i found on my home computer. the quality of the scanned images isn’t that great but at least it proves that i used to have knee lift.
